The Nevada Physical Therapy Association is a non-profit professional organization that represents over 400 physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and physical therapy students in Nevada.

The NPTA was incorporated in 1999 to support, promote, and advocate for the profession of Physical Therapy in Nevada. The NPTA works with state agencies in the implementation of administrative rules and policies governing physical therapy practice.

The NPTA also maintains a relationship with the Nevada State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners in the development of rules and regulations relative to professional practice in Nevada.

NPTA members represent the many varied areas of our practice, including hospital inpatient settings, rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient/free-standing clinics and home health agencies.

The NPTA is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). The APTA is a national professional organization representing more than 72,000 members. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research, and education. Information about the APTA is at www.apta.org .

The NPTA has two districts, the Northern district and the Southern district, which reflect the general population distribution in the state of Nevada. The Northern district encompasses the Reno, Lake Tahoe and Carson City area and the general area north of Tonopah, while the Southern district encompasses the Las Vegas area and the area south of Tonopah.

The NPTA carries out the following activities on a regular basis:

  • Monthly meetings of the membership, with simultaneous meetings in the Northern District and Southern District
  • Montly education lectures
  • Web site with information for its members, the public and the media about physical therapy in Nevada
  • Biannual state conferences for continuing education purposes.
  • Communication with state legislators on issues affecting physical therapy.
  • Communication of national physical therapy issues and updates to its Nevada membership
  • Communication with the news media and general public on behalf of Nevada physical theraposts.
  • Maintains an online career center.
  • Organizes state-wide events and activities among physical therapists to promote the profession.

Mission Statement of the NPTA:

To meet the physical therapy needs of society, to meet the needs and interests of its members, and to develop and improve the art and science of physical therapy including practice, education, and research.
